Two Suspects Charged with Buglary of Local Business
Suspects' Photos
On January 21, 2010, at approximately 4:00 A.M., suspect(s) burglarized the Smoke Stax Tobacco Store on U.S. Highway 175, and took an undetermined amount of tobacco products. The next morning at about 4:00 A.M., Officer Josh Morillos was patrolling the area and noticed a suspicious vehicle occupied by two males parked near the tobacco store. Upon investigation, Officer Morillos located several items in the vehicle, which were believed to have been taken in the previous days Burglary, along with tools consistent with those used to burglarize buildings. Detectives later determined that both suspects did take part in the earlier Burglary. Charges have been filed with the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office on both suspects. Additionally, detectives were able to link these suspects to other burglaries in the DFW area. Michael Brandon Nelson is currently wanted for Burglary and Donte Deon James has been released on bond. Anyone having information on Nelson’s location is encouraged to contact the Seagoville Police Department at 972-287-2999.
Weather Recovery Begins
Fallen Tree
Over the weekend of February 12, 13, and 14, crews spent their time sanding and clearing trees and debris from City streets.

City crews and the City’s solid waste contractor will begin this week repairing the most severely damaged streets and removing brush from the curb. The magnitude of the damage will take a number of weeks to mend.

As a reminder, your brush will be removed more quickly if citizens follow a few simple rules outlined in City ordinances:

"Yard waste, tree trimmings, and branches must be six feet or less in length, with branches no more than six inches in diameter, weighing less than 50 pounds, and in a neatly stacked pile no greater than four feet high."...

Contractors will pick up properly stacked brush within 30 days of it being placed at the curb. In addition, the solid waste contractor is under no obligation to pick up brush from vacant houses or vacant lots.

Municipal Services Bureau to Collect Delinquent Fines for Municipal Court
MSB has already begun sending letter notifications and making phone calls to defendants as a reminder of any unresolved fines. This is an opportunity for our defendants to resolve their obligations without being arrested.

MSB will continue to collect on all cases in a delinquent status to increase compliance for the municipal court. Once a case is transferred to MSB for collection, a 30% fee will be added to the amount due. Paying your court fines, fees and costs on time will eliminate the need to pay these additional charges.

To contact MSB to make a payment, visit www.muniserv.com or call (800) 616-0166. Payments may be made by credit and debit card, personal check or money order. Assistance is provided in English and Spanish. [Additional info...]

Scheduled Court Dates
The Court is requiring a 72 hour notice to reschedule a court date effective immediately.
