Standing Water
With the surrounding low-lying areas in and around the City of Seagoville, standing water can be a breeding ground for all types of insects that can carry disease. It is the responsibility of all property owners and tenants to ensure that places that support standing or ponding water are quickly and effectively removed. Dallas County Health and Human Services Department (HHS) has several mosquito traps placed within the City limits and monitors them for mosquitoes that carry any type of disease.

Stagnant Water
In an effort to assist the Dallas County HHS Department, City Ordinance 11.03.001 states:
  • (a) It shall be unlawful for any person who shall own or occupy, or have supervision or control of, any lot, tract or parcel of land in the city to permit or allow the accumulation of stagnant water or other unwholesome condition or any other condition that may produce disease thereon, or permit the same to remain thereon.
  • (b) It shall be unlawful for any person who shall own or occupy, or have supervision or control of, any lot in the city to permit or allow holes or places on such lot where water may accumulate and become stagnant, or permit the same to remain thereon.
