Reduce Junk Mail
Reducing Your Junk Mail
Reducing junk mail gets clutter out of your mailbox, frees up your time, and helps protect the environment. It takes 17 trees to make a ton of paper. That means nearly 100 million trees get used for junk mail each year in the U.S. Let's keep the trees in the forest, and get junk mail out of your life.

Place Your Name on a Do Not Mail List
You can have your name placed on the do not mail list maintained by Direct Marketing Association (DMA). Registering with DMA's mail preference service will reduce the amount of direct mail you receive. There is a $1 fee to register for the service.

You can also remove the name of individuals under your care from commercial mailing lists. Family members, friends, and caretakers can remove names of individuals by registering with the DMA's Do Not Contact list for Caregivers (DNCC).

You can also stop junk mail from being sent to a deceased relative. The DMA maintains a Deceased Do Not Contact list for use by family members of deceased persons.

Stop Receiving Pre-Approved Credit Card Offers
You can stop receiving many pre-approved credit card solicitations. The four major credit reporting agencies offer a service that will take you off their mailing list for pre-approved credit card solicitations. Call 888-5OPT-OUT or visit the Opt Out website.

Get Off Mailing List for Catalog & Publishing Companies
You can get off mailing list for many catalog and publishing companies by contacting Catalog Choice, which offers a service that allows you to get your name removed from the lists.
