The Building, Permitting, and Code Enforcement Departments are a division of  Community Development and report to the Community Development Director, Bill Medina


Building Inspections

Responsibilities

The Building Inspection Department is responsible for ensuring compliance with City building codes and issuing permits for construction.

The Building Inspection Department provides public safety by enforcing Municipal and State regulations and codes relative to the construction, enlargement, alteration, repair, moving, demolition, conversion, occupancy, equipment, use, height, area, and maintenance of all buildings or structures in the City.

The construction codes of the City shall be administered and enforced by the office of the Building Official. The City of Seagoville is currently using the 2018 International Code Council family of Codes and the 2017 National Electrical Code (NEC) with adopted city amendments.


Permitting

The Permitting Department is responsible for processing permit applications and issuing permits. These permits include building permits (including plumbing, electrical, and HVAC), contractor registration, certificate of occupancy (residential and commercial), itinerant vendor permits, and health permits.

Certificate of Occupancy Inspections 

Residential

All applicants for water service to a residential rental property shall be required to complete an application for a Certificate of Occupancy Inspection prior to receiving such service. Application forms are available at Seagoville City Hall or online at www.seagovilletx.viewpointcloud.com

Commercial

All Commercial Businesses shall be required to complete an application for a Certificate of Occupancy Inspection prior to opening the business. Application forms are available at Seagoville City Hall or online at www.seagovilletx.viewpointcloud.com


Code Enforcement

Mission Statement

The mission of code enforcement in the City of Seagoville is to protect the health and safety of the City's residents and visitors, and the livability of the community, by assuring compliance with the City’s land use, environmental, and construction codes. The City will assure code compliance by encouraging voluntary compliance, and in cases where voluntary compliance has not been met, using all legal resources available to the City of Seagoville.

Responsibilities 

The Code Enforcement Department is responsible for maintaining compliance with City of Seagoville Codes and Ordinances, and issuing warnings and/or citations for violations.
