Are retaining walls required to have a permit?: All retaining walls require a permit. Note: Any retaining wall over 48 inches in height are required to have a permit and engineered plans and design.

1. Is a permit required for a storage building or accessory building in a residential area?: A permit is required for any accessory or storage building.Please call 972-287-6829 for more information.

2. When is a permit required?: Permits are required when constructing, remodeling, or enlarging a building. Permits are also required for other improvements to your property.

Projects that are cosmetic, such as painting, wallpapering, carpeting, cabinets, and trim work do not require permits. Additionally, permits are not required when replacing fixtures on existing wiring or fixtures to existing plumbing.

When in doubt, always check by calling the Building Inspections Department at 972-287-6829.

3. How much does a permit cost?: Please refer to the City of Seagoville Master Fee Schedule for all fees.
