Type B Sales Tax

In 1995 citizens of Seagoville passed two propositions, a half-cent sales and use tax for reduction of property tax rate and a half-cent sales and use tax for economic development and community improvements.

The Seagoville Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) was formed after the passage of the half-cent sales tax, which funds the corporation. A seven-member Board of Directors oversees the SEDC.

The SEDC works with existing and potential businesses in the areas of business expansion, relocation, retention and redevelopment through market development, as well as education and training.
