MAN STRUCK ON SIDE OF SERVICE ROAD BY MOTOR VEHICLE RESULTING IN DEATH
SEAGOVILLE, TEXAS - On 01/16/2025 at approximately 7:15pm, Seagoville Police and Fire responded to the 900 block of South US Highway 175 Westbound Service Road (WBSR) in Seagoville on the report of a major accident.
In about the 900 block of the South Highway 175 WBSR, first responders observed only one vehicle on scene which was a blue 2002 Ford Ranger pulled over to the right side of the service road. There was an adult male lying unresponsive near the right rear corner of the truck. The truck bed was loaded with square metal tubing and corrugated sheet metal. The tailgate of the Ranger was down, and the load was sticking out approximately 3+ feet past the end of the tailgate. By all appearances the driver of the Ford Ranger truck had pulled over to the right side of the service road and turned on his emergency flashers. Investigators believe the driver then exited the truck to check on and/or adjust the load in the truck bed and that, while standing behind his truck, another vehicle collided into him and his truck. Investigators believe the driver was pinned between the vehicles and protruding load causing massive trauma and fatal injury. As stated, a second vehicle to the accident was not found on scene by first responders. Fluid spills believed to be associated with the other vehicle left a trail in departure, fleeing the location. It is anticipated that the other vehicle will have evidence of recent front-end damage, e.g. crumpled fenders/front bumper.
Investigators are asking for anyone who has information regarding this tragedy to contact the Seagoville Police Department at (972)287-2999.
The male victim was positively identified as a Seagoville resident, Jaime Lopez Tinoco, age 51.
