Food Service And Retail Food Inspection

Establishments are categorized by level based on their risk. High-risk establishments are inspected more frequently, two to three times annually.

  • Level 1 - High-Risk Establishment (2 times a year): heavy preparation, reusable tableware, Mgr. Certification and food handler cards required
  • Level 2 - Medium-Risk Establishment (2 times a year): medium to heavy preparation, single service tableware, Mgr. Certification and food handler cards required
  • Level 3 - Low-risk Establishment (1 time a year): sales mainly pre-packaged foods with little or no preparation

Any inspection report is a "snapshot" of the day and time of the inspection. On any given day, a restaurant could have more or fewer violations. An inspection may not be representative of the overall, long-term cleanliness of an establishment. At the time of the inspection, violations are recorded but are often corrected on the spot prior to the inspector leaving the establishment.
